We welcomed the new year to fireworks on Navy Pier in Chicago, then took in the Winter Classic at Wrigley Field.

That’s why it was a pleasure to make a renewed visit to The Hacker house. Not. Only do they feature their creators fine beer- Hacker-Pschorr, but they also have free wi-fi Internet, quite rare indeed.

Heading to Green Bay, Wisconsin later to see Gaelic Storm, an Irish Band whom have a repertoire of traditional and modern Irish music. For those not familiar, they are likely most famous for their appearance in the motion picture Titanic, they were the Irish band in the steerage section. We saw them about 4 or 5 years ago at Michigan Tech during a New Years Eve fundraiser. This time they will be performing at an Irish Pub and Restaurant in Green Bay – Saint Brendans Inn; one of just a few worldwide dates where they perform in a pub. Hopefully the hard cider will be flowing!

Monks from a monestary in Michigans Upper Peninsula operate the Jam Pot to support their monestary.
Their home is a beautiful building with fabulous gardens.
The stores signature item is thimbleberry jam. Also lots of great jams, jellies, and baked goods.
If you are visiting Houghton, MI, stop by the Ambassador for great pizza, cool small town atmosphere and FISH BOWL cocktails.

The restored Quincy Mine Hoist museum. An enjoyable two hour stop when in the Keweenaw Peninsula. You will see living history representing the economic catalyst that essentially formed the need for the Upper Peninsula.
