Governor Granholm visited Michigan’s Upper Peninsula State Fair on Friday. During her swing through the Upper Peninsula, she conducted media interviews. In a report in the Escanaba Daily Press, Gov. Granholm addresses the new Michigan Business Tax.
Granholm said the tax burden was probably due to the fact that this tax, unlike the single business tax, was weighted toward profit.
“It could be that some of these small businesses have low capital but high profits and so they were hit harder,” she said. “It depended.”
Well, isn’t that grand, a punitive redistribution of wealth. Michigan has the highest unemployment in the Nation. Metro Detroit is a train wreck. What is Michigan’s Economic Development Strategy? To tax the shit out of business that actually make a profit.
